Why do I pay a deposit when booking?
A deposit secures your appointment and confirms your booking with the professional. It is not an extra charge: it is part of the service price and is credited toward your total, so you pay exactly what the business lists and nothing more. The deposit is held securely by BurgundyBlend until your appointment is complete, and the remaining balance is paid directly to the business at your appointment. The deposit amount and the business's cancellation policy are both shown before you confirm.
How do deposits work for businesses?
You choose whether to take one at all. In your settings you can pick no deposit, 10%, 20% or 50% of the service. If you take one, we collect it when the client books and hold it until the appointment is complete; once you mark it complete it is released to you. Deposits protect your calendar from no-shows, which is the most expensive thing that happens to a small business in this trade. Using them costs you nothing: there is no fee for taking a deposit. The only thing that comes out of it is the standard card processing on the amount collected online, the same cost any business pays to accept a card. Complete your payout setup in the app so we can send the money on.
What does BurgundyBlend cost a business?
Listing is free. Taking bookings is free. Deposits are free. There is no monthly fee required to get booked. We charge for one thing: when The Chair, our video feed, puts you in front of somebody new. A booking from a client The Chair introduced is $3, an introductory rate rising to $4. Clients you brought yourself, from your own link, your Instagram or your front door, are free forever, however many times they come back. It is a flat amount and never a percentage of your work, so the more you charge the smaller it is proportionally. Optional Grow and Pro plans add more services, staff, photos and clips, but they are not required to get booked.
What happens when a client books me again?
It depends who found them. If you brought that client yourself, nothing, ever, however many times they return. If The Chair introduced them, every booking they make with you is $3, the same as the first. We found you that client and we charge the same flat amount for as long as they keep coming, the way a delivery marketplace charges on the second order and not only the first. You never have to work out which is which. We do it from your booking history, and a client you brought cannot be charged for by mistake.
What do the Grow and Pro plans include?
Everything you need to take bookings is on the Free plan: your profile, your calendar, deposits, reminders, payouts, and clips in The Chair. The paid plans lift the limits. Free covers 2 services, 1 professional, 2 photos per service and 9 clips in The Chair. Grow is $12.99 CAD a month and covers 10 services, 3 professionals, 8 photos per service and 100 clips. Pro is $24.99 CAD a month with unlimited services and professionals, 24 photos per service, unlimited clips, up to 10 locations, and higher placement in search results. Plans are billed through the app store and can be cancelled any time. The Chair fee is the same on every plan.
Is there a minimum price for a service?
It depends on the deposit you take. With no deposit there is no minimum at all, so you can list a $5 service if you want to. If you take a deposit it has to be large enough to cover the card processing on it, so with a 50% deposit your lowest price is $8, with 20% it is $20, and with 10% it is $40. The app tells you your floor as soon as you pick your deposit rate. Cheaper items are usually better as add-ons to a service anyway, because add-ons ride on the same booking.
Does BurgundyBlend charge a commission?
No, never. We charge a flat amount on a booking The Chair sent you, and nothing at all on the clients you brought yourself. The fee is the same on a $50 service as on a $500 one, so it gets proportionally smaller the more you charge. Some marketplaces take 20% of a new client. On a $200 service that is $40. Ours is $3.
Does the customer pay extra to book on BurgundyBlend?
No. Customers pay exactly the price the business lists, with no added booking fee or service charge. Our booking fee is absorbed by the business out of the deposit, so booking through BurgundyBlend never costs a customer more than booking directly.
How long does payout verification take?
Payout setup is handled securely by Stripe, our payments partner. Most businesses are verified within a few minutes of completing setup. Occasionally Stripe asks for an additional document, such as a photo ID, which can take a business day or two. Once you are verified, your payout status shows as ready in the app and you can start receiving deposits.
When do I receive my deposit as a business?
The deposit is collected when your client books and is held securely by BurgundyBlend until the appointment happens. Once you mark the appointment as complete in the app, the deposit is released to you. If you forget to mark it complete, we release it automatically a short time after the scheduled appointment. From there the funds reach your bank on Stripe's payout schedule (Stripe is our secure payments partner): because Stripe reviews new accounts, your first payout typically arrives about a week after your first release, and after that payouts usually land within a couple of business days. Exact payout timing is set by Stripe and can vary.
Who holds the deposit until the appointment is complete?
BurgundyBlend holds the deposit until the appointment is complete rather than sending it out immediately. Once the business marks the appointment complete, the deposit is released through Stripe. Holding it also keeps refunds straightforward because refundable money has not already been paid out. The business still keeps the deposit when a client cancels late or no-shows.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Each business sets its own policy within our limits, a notice window (24 or 48 hours) and whether the deposit is refundable, and you always see the exact policy before you confirm a booking. In general: if the business cancels, your deposit is refunded in full with no charge. If you cancel with at least the required notice and the deposit is refundable, it is refunded automatically to your original payment method, less the card processing cost on your deposit, usually under a dollar, which the card networks do not return to us. If you cancel late, no-show, or the business has set a non-refundable deposit, the deposit is kept to protect the professional's time. Only the deposit is ever refundable through BurgundyBlend; the remaining balance is paid directly to the business. Refunds are issued straight away on our side, but it typically takes 5 to 10 business days for the money to appear back on your card. That wait is set by your bank and the card networks, not by us.
As a business, do I keep the deposit if a client cancels late or no-shows?
Yes. You choose a 24- or 48-hour notice window and whether on-time customer cancellations are refundable. Late cancellations and no-shows are not refunded, and a non-refundable deposit is kept on any customer cancellation, so the deposit is released to you as usual. If you cancel the appointment, the customer is always refunded in full, and the card processing on that deposit is deducted from your next payout, because the card networks do not return it to us. When the customer cancels, that cost comes out of their refund instead, never off you. The policy is shown to the customer before booking and applied automatically.
Do I need a separate Stripe or payment account to get paid?
No. Payouts are handled by our secure payments partner, Stripe, and you set everything up right inside the BurgundyBlend app in a few taps. You never create or manage a separate account on another website. Once your quick payout setup is verified (usually within minutes), deposits are sent to your bank automatically.
Do I need a card reader, and how do I collect the balance?
You do not need a card reader for the BurgundyBlend deposit. We collect that online when the client books. You collect the remaining balance directly at the appointment however you prefer: cash, e-transfer, or your own card reader. You keep everything collected at the appointment and handle taxes on that balance your own way.
What if I have a bad experience with a booking?
If an appointment did not meet your expectations, the best step is to leave an honest review on the professional's profile. Reviews keep the community trustworthy and help great pros stand out. For safety concerns or anything serious, contact us at support@burgundyblend.com.
When will my business appear to customers?
Two things need to be complete. First, our team reviews and approves your profile. Second, your Stripe payout setup must be verified so you can receive deposits. Once you are both approved and payout-ready, your profile goes live and nearby customers can discover and book you, usually within minutes of Stripe verifying. Stripe verification is typically a few minutes, and occasionally up to one or two business days if Stripe asks for an extra document such as a photo ID. Tip: after you are approved, fully close and reopen the app so it picks up your latest payout status.
How much deposit do customers pay, and can I choose it?
You choose: none, 10%, 20% or 50%. A deposit is credited toward the service, so a customer never pays more than your listed price. Taking no deposit is completely free and works perfectly well, but it leaves you exposed to no-shows. One thing to know: appearing in The Chair needs at least a 10% deposit, because that is where our fee is collected from.
How do I join BurgundyBlend as a business?
Download the app and create a business profile. Add your services, photos, and availability, then complete payout setup so you can receive deposits and payments. Once your profile is live, customers in your area can discover and book you through Explore and search.
Can I manage my business from a computer?
Yes. Sign in at app.burgundyblend.com with the same account you use in the app, then open "My business". You can edit your services and prices, set your opening hours for the whole week on one screen, and manage your team. Desk work is simply easier on a bigger screen. A few things stay in the iOS app because they belong there: setting up payouts with Stripe, changing your subscription, and taking photos of your team.
How do I move my client list from another platform?
Export your contacts as a CSV, then open My business and choose Import clients in the BurgundyBlend web app. Preview shows valid rows, duplicates and conflicts before anything is saved. Apply adds only approved contacts, and a completed import can be undone as one job. The import moves contact details and notes, not appointments, and it never creates BurgundyBlend accounts for people who have not joined.
Can my stylists have their own logins?
Yes. Invite a professional from your team screen and they sign in with their own verified email. Their workspace shows their bookings, hours, time off, profile and Chair posting tools. They cannot change services, prices, deposits, payouts, subscriptions, other staff or the business profile. You can revoke their login without deleting their staff record or booking history.
What happens to my data if I leave?
Paid plans can be cancelled at any time without deleting your account. If you choose account deletion, your public business listing is taken down and your sign-in and personal profile details are removed. Booking records connected to money may be retained without your contact details for refunds, disputes, tax and accounting history. Our Delete your account page lists what is removed and what is retained before you decide. Read what account deletion does
Can I run more than one location?
Yes, on the Pro plan. Each location keeps its own address, opening hours, team and payouts, and you switch between them with one login. You also get a combined view showing bookings and revenue across every location. One thing to know before you add a second location: each one bills its own subscription and receives its own payouts, because each is a separate business receiving separate payments.
Why am I seeing businesses from other cities?
We always show the closest professionals first. If there are not many near you yet, rather than showing you an empty screen we widen the search and show the nearest available, which may be in a neighbouring city. As more professionals join your area, local results naturally take over. You can always search by category or neighbourhood to narrow things down.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. When you book, you get an email confirming your appointment with a full breakdown: the deposit you paid, the balance due at your appointment, and the business's cancellation policy. If the business records your final total after your visit, you also get a receipt showing what you paid online, what you paid in person, and the total. The balance is paid directly to the business, so any question about that amount is best raised with them.
