Why do I pay a deposit when booking?
A deposit secures your appointment and confirms your booking with the professional. It is not an extra charge: it is part of the service price and is credited toward your total, so you pay exactly what the business lists and nothing more. The deposit is held securely by BurgundyBlend until your appointment is complete, and the remaining balance is paid directly to the business at your appointment. Some businesses ask for the full price at booking instead, in which case there is nothing left to pay when you arrive. The deposit amount and the business's cancellation policy are both shown before you confirm.
How do deposits work for businesses?
You choose whether to take one at all. In your settings you can pick no deposit, 10%, 20%, 50%, or 100% of the service, which means your client pays in full when they book and there is nothing to collect in person. If you take one, we collect it when the client books and hold it until the appointment is complete; once you mark it complete it is released to you. Taking the full amount changes nothing about what you pay us: still no commission, still never a percentage, still just the flat $3 when The Chair brings you somebody new. Deposits protect your calendar from no-shows, which is the most expensive thing that happens to a small business in this trade. Using them costs you nothing: there is no fee for taking a deposit. The only thing that comes out of it is the standard card processing on the amount collected online, the same cost any business pays to accept a card. Complete your payout setup in the app so we can send the money on.
What does BurgundyBlend cost a business?
Two things, and only two. A plan, which starts at $7.99 USD a month on Starter and comes with a 14-day free trial, and a flat $3 booking fee when The Chair, our video feed, puts you in front of somebody new. There is no commission and never a percentage of your work, so the fee is the same on a $500 service as on a $50 one. Clients you brought yourself, from your own link, your Instagram or your front door, cost you nothing per booking, however many times they come back. Deposits cost nothing to take. Grow is $14.99 USD a month and Pro is $24.99 USD a month for more services, staff, photos and clips. Plans are billed through the app store and can be cancelled any time.
What happens when a client books me again?
It depends who found them. If you brought that client yourself, there is no booking fee, ever, however many times they return. If The Chair introduced them, every booking they make with you is $3, the same as the first. We found you that client and we charge the same flat amount for as long as they keep coming, the way a delivery marketplace charges on the second order and not only the first. You never have to work out which is which. We do it from your booking history, and a client you brought cannot be charged for by mistake.
What do the Starter, Grow and Pro plans include?
Everything you need to take bookings is on every plan: your profile, your calendar, deposits, reminders, payouts, and clips in The Chair. The plans differ in how much room and reach you get. Starter is $7.99 USD a month, starts with a 14-day free trial, and covers 2 services, 1 professional, 2 gallery photos, 1 add-on per service, 1 location and 9 clips in The Chair. Grow is $14.99 USD a month and covers 10 services, 3 professionals, 8 gallery photos, 5 add-ons per service and 100 clips, with featured placement in search. Pro is $24.99 USD a month with unlimited services and professionals, 24 gallery photos, 20 add-ons per service, unlimited clips, up to 3 locations on one subscription, and top placement in search results. Plans are billed through the app store and can be cancelled any time. The Chair fee is $3 on every plan: a plan buys you room and reach, never a cheaper booking.
Is there a minimum price for a service?
It depends on the deposit you take. With no deposit there is no minimum at all, so you can list a $5 service if you want to. If you take a deposit it has to be large enough to cover the card processing on it, so with a 50% deposit your lowest price is $8, with 20% it is $20, and with 10% it is $40. The app tells you your floor as soon as you pick your deposit rate. Cheaper items are usually better as add-ons to a service anyway, because add-ons ride on the same booking.
Does BurgundyBlend charge a commission?
No, never. We charge a flat amount on a booking The Chair sent you, and nothing at all on the clients you brought yourself. The fee is the same on a $50 service as on a $500 one, so it gets proportionally smaller the more you charge. Some marketplaces take 20% of a new client. On a $200 service that is $40. Ours is $3.
Does the customer pay extra to book on BurgundyBlend?
No. Customers pay exactly the price the business lists, with no added booking fee or service charge. Our booking fee is absorbed by the business out of the deposit, so booking through BurgundyBlend never costs a customer more than booking directly.
How long does payout verification take?
Payout setup is handled securely by Stripe, our payments partner. Most businesses are verified within a few minutes of completing setup. Occasionally Stripe asks for an additional document, such as a photo ID, which can take a business day or two. Once you are verified, your payout status shows as ready in the app and you can start receiving deposits.
When do I receive my deposit as a business?
The deposit is collected when your client books and is held securely by BurgundyBlend until the appointment happens. Once you mark the appointment as complete in the app, the deposit is released to you. If you forget to mark it complete, we release it automatically a short time after the scheduled appointment. From there the funds reach your bank on Stripe's payout schedule (Stripe is our secure payments partner): because Stripe reviews new accounts, your first payout typically arrives about a week after your first release, and after that payouts usually land within a couple of business days. Exact payout timing is set by Stripe and can vary.
Who holds the deposit until the appointment is complete?
BurgundyBlend holds the deposit until the appointment is complete rather than sending it out immediately. Once the business marks the appointment complete, the deposit is released through Stripe. Holding it also keeps refunds straightforward because refundable money has not already been paid out. The business still keeps the deposit when a client cancels late or no-shows.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Each business sets its own policy within our limits, a notice window (24 or 48 hours) and whether the deposit is refundable, and you always see the exact policy before you confirm a booking. In general: if the business cancels, your deposit is refunded in full with no charge. If you cancel with at least the required notice and the deposit is refundable, it is refunded automatically to your original payment method, less the card processing cost on your deposit, usually under a dollar, which the card networks do not return to us. If you cancel late, no-show, or the business has set a non-refundable deposit, the deposit is kept to protect the professional's time. Only the deposit is ever refundable through BurgundyBlend; the remaining balance is paid directly to the business. Refunds are issued straight away on our side, but it typically takes 5 to 10 business days for the money to appear back on your card. That wait is set by your bank and the card networks, not by us.
As a business, do I keep the deposit if a client cancels late or no-shows?
Yes. You choose a 24- or 48-hour notice window and whether on-time customer cancellations are refundable. Late cancellations and no-shows are not refunded, and a non-refundable deposit is kept on any customer cancellation, so the deposit is released to you as usual. If you cancel the appointment, the customer is always refunded in full, and the card processing on that deposit is deducted from your next payout, because the card networks do not return it to us. When the customer cancels, that cost comes out of their refund instead, never off you. The policy is shown to the customer before booking and applied automatically.
Do I need a separate Stripe or payment account to get paid?
No. Payouts are handled by our secure payments partner, Stripe, and you set everything up right inside the BurgundyBlend app in a few taps. You never create or manage a separate account on another website. Once your quick payout setup is verified (usually within minutes), deposits are sent to your bank automatically.
Do I need a card reader, and how do I collect the balance?
You do not need a card reader for the BurgundyBlend deposit. We collect that online when the client books. You collect the remaining balance directly at the appointment however you prefer: cash, e-transfer, or your own card reader. You keep everything collected at the appointment and handle taxes on that balance your own way.
What if I have a bad experience with a booking?
If an appointment did not meet your expectations, the best step is to leave an honest review on the professional's profile. Reviews keep the community trustworthy and help great pros stand out. For safety concerns or anything serious, contact us at support@burgundyblend.com.
When will my business appear to customers?
Two things need to be complete. First, our team reviews and approves your profile. Second, your Stripe payout setup must be verified so you can receive deposits. Once you are both approved and payout-ready, your profile goes live and nearby customers can discover and book you, usually within minutes of Stripe verifying. Stripe verification is typically a few minutes, and occasionally up to one or two business days if Stripe asks for an extra document such as a photo ID. Tip: after you are approved, fully close and reopen the app so it picks up your latest payout status.
How much deposit do customers pay, and can I choose it?
You choose: none, 10%, 20% or 50%. A deposit is credited toward the service, so a customer never pays more than your listed price. Taking no deposit is completely free and works perfectly well, but it leaves you exposed to no-shows. One thing to know: appearing in The Chair needs at least a 10% deposit, because that is where our fee is collected from.
How do I join BurgundyBlend as a business?
Download the app and create a business profile. Add your services, photos, and availability, then complete payout setup so you can receive deposits and payments. Choose a plan when you set up: Starter is $7.99 USD a month and begins with a 14-day free trial, so you can list, take real bookings and see whether it works before you are charged anything. Once your profile is live, customers in your area can discover and book you through Explore and search.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, 14 days on the Starter plan. You get the full plan during the trial: your listing in the marketplace, your calendar, deposits, reminders, payouts and clips in The Chair, and any booking you take is a real booking you keep. The trial is handled by the App Store or Google Play, so you cancel in your store settings before day 14 and are charged nothing. After that Starter is $7.99 USD a month. Grow and Pro do not have a trial, because a business choosing them on day one already knows what it wants.
Can I manage my business from a computer?
Yes. Sign in at app.burgundyblend.com with the same account you use in the app, then open "My business". You can edit your services and prices, set your opening hours for the whole week on one screen, and manage your team. Desk work is simply easier on a bigger screen. A few things stay in the iOS app because they belong there: setting up payouts with Stripe, changing your subscription, and taking photos of your team.
Can I message the business after I book?
Yes. Once your booking is confirmed, a conversation opens between you and the business inside BurgundyBlend, about that appointment: where to park, what to bring, whether you need a patch test, or that you are running late. Neither of you has to give out a phone number. It is scoped to the one appointment rather than being a general inbox, so there is no way to be messaged by a business you have not booked, and the conversation closes two days after the appointment. Messaging is in the iPhone app and in the web app at app.burgundyblend.com. Android is on the way.
Do I have to give clients my phone number?
No. Once a booking is confirmed you can message the client inside BurgundyBlend about that appointment, so arranging a patch test or telling somebody the door code does not mean handing over your personal mobile. The conversation covers one appointment, opens when it is confirmed and closes two days afterwards, so it does not turn into an inbox you are expected to watch. Your assigned professional can see and answer the thread for their own appointments; nobody else at the business can.
Can I ask professionals to come to me instead of searching?
Yes. Post a request saying what you want, roughly what you want to spend and when you are free, and professionals near you who do that kind of work can send you a price. Each one sends a single quote and none of them can see what the others offered, so you get their real number rather than whoever was willing to go lowest in public. You see their work, their price and the exact time they are offering. Choose one and complete the booking flow, including any required deposit, to confirm the appointment at that price. Nothing happens to the quotes you did not take. Your request shows your first name and your general area, never your exact address or your contact details. Open The Ask in BurgundyBlend, signed in with your account.
How do customer requests work for my business?
Open The Ask in your business workspace to see requests in your saved categories and area. Quote a price and appointment time. Your quote is private: other professionals cannot see it. If the client chooses you, they complete the booking and any required deposit. An accepted-quote booking carries a flat $4.00 fee, never a percentage, plus the applicable payment processing charges. Your business must be bookable, with payouts ready and a deposit of at least 10%, unless it is platform-seeded. Pro sees new requests immediately, Grow after ten minutes and Starter after thirty minutes.
How do I move my client list from another platform?
Export your contacts as a CSV, then open My business and choose Import clients in the BurgundyBlend web app. Preview shows valid rows, duplicates and conflicts before anything is saved. Apply adds only approved contacts, and a completed import can be undone as one job. The import moves contact details and notes, not appointments, and it never creates BurgundyBlend accounts for people who have not joined.
Can my stylists have their own logins?
Yes. Invite a professional from your team screen and they sign in with their own verified email. Their workspace shows their bookings, hours, time off, profile and Chair posting tools. They cannot change services, prices, deposits, payouts, subscriptions, other staff or the business profile. You can revoke their login without deleting their staff record or booking history.
What happens to my data if I leave?
Paid plans can be cancelled at any time without deleting your account. If you choose account deletion, your public business listing is taken down and your sign-in and personal profile details are removed. Booking records connected to money may be retained without your contact details for refunds, disputes, tax and accounting history. Our Delete your account page lists what is removed and what is retained before you decide.
Can I run more than one location?
Yes, on the Pro plan. One Pro subscription covers up to three locations, so a second and a third shop cost you nothing more than the plan you are already paying for. Each location keeps its own address, opening hours, team and payouts, and you switch between them with one login. You also get a combined view showing bookings and revenue across every location. Payouts are the one thing that stays separate: each location is paid into its own account, because each is a separate business receiving separate payments. If you need more than three locations, email support@burgundyblend.com and we will set it up with you.
Why am I seeing businesses from other cities?
We always show the closest professionals first. If there are not many near you yet, rather than showing you an empty screen we widen the search and show the nearest available, which may be in a neighboring city. As more professionals join your area, local results naturally take over. You can always search by category or neighborhood to narrow things down.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. When you book, you get an email confirming your appointment with a full breakdown: the deposit you paid, the balance due at your appointment, and the business's cancellation policy. If the business records your final total after your visit, you also get a receipt showing what you paid online, what you paid in person, and the total. The balance is paid directly to the business, so any question about that amount is best raised with them.
